Fashion in the city seems to have acquired a golden hue. PT reports...It is not just the rappers and soccer players who are flashing their bling. With the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce and Priyanka Chopra flaunting their jaw-dropping golden dresses and accessories, matte and beaten gold are catching up in our country. "Bling is very much an integral part of the style statement nowadays.

The best way to bring it out is to go in for gold which, incidentally, has been a part of us Indians for centuries now," says Ushma Agarwal, a city-based fashion designer. She is a self-confessed lover of the colour, and it constitutes a huge chunk of her wardrobe. "The shade can make any outfit look rich and classy. Golden boots look especially sexy."
Belts, shoes, rubber bands, watches, necklaces, all seem to have been touched by Midas. In fact, the fashion gurus in the city are underplaying the metallic shade. Walucha Robinson, a well-known face in the modelling world, confides that she is smitten by the glitter. "Gold and silver are the colours you'll usually spot me wearing. And, with the recent trend of the colour taking off in the fashion industry, it can be seen even more. I have everything from bags to footwear, bracelets and belts in the golden shade. I'm in love with the colour."
But how does one make it appealing? Diya Thakker, a city-based fashion designer, suggests, "Match gold with something classic and simple like linen trousers or jeans, and a white shirt. The dazzling colour should be underplayed a little. One can't wear embroidered salwar kurta and load themselves with gold. It's the biggest fashion blunder one can make."
Surely, bling seems to have arrived like never before.
